This week I’m sharing how I almost got scammed on LinkedIn and tracked down the real person being used. Learn from my mistake as I share it all, including the fake check, and some things to look out for along the way. Hope you enjoy!
And I want to see your dreams come true. Whether you're looking to be a virtual assistant business owner, freelancer, or work from home part-time, I'd love to help you get moving. My specialty is connecting you with the you God created you to be. Everything we reach for leads us to the next thing. What are you reaching for?
Thank you for sharing your experience! (You’re the new Oprah, LOL!) Please don’t be embarrassed. It never enters my mind to be scammed that way. I am always aware of hackers, but not scammers on the internet.
One thing I’ve always tried to figure out is how to vet people who request to connect with you on LinkedIn, Facebook and other social media accounts. Should I choose everyone who requests or is there some system we should use that governs how we okay a request.
Oh, I’m on the VIP list and a member of the VA BOC group. I would really like to see that be one of the topics discussed in the VA BOC group.
Hi Annette!
Thanks so much Wow, I’ll take it LOL!
Awesome that’s definitely something we can talk more about.
Thank you for sharing. Im currently a personal assistant getting ready to switch to virtual assistant in the next couple of months. Listening to your podcast open my mind that we need to be on the look out as well for scammers.
Hi Dhara! You’re welcome Thank you for sharing. I appreciate you so much for listening.
Listening to this episode is kinda funny… this just happened to me. Only I shut it down before he sent a check…
Hi Dawna! Thanks so much for listening and stopping by. Oh my gosh…so glad you shut it down before it went too far. We meet all kinds online 🙂
I am glad I happened upon this site. I almost fell for THE EXACT scam. I can’t believe it, it was on Linkedin under a job posting for Budget Blinds. That is a real company. I got suspicious when I googled this persons email address and it shows up on multiple job postings for multiple different companies in different areas of the country.
Matter of fact, they are still using the same first line in the email (“I am rest assured”).
God Bless
Hi Allen! Thanks so much for sharing 🙂 Good thing you googled their email address. God bless you too!
